Business Guide

Everything you can do as a Business

Your complete reference for every feature in your business dashboard — deals, events, tickets, the QR scanner, payouts, marketing tiers, and more.

Getting Started

1. Creating Your Business Account

Sign up at The Noir Atlas and select your business type — restaurant, barbershop, spa, gym, church, daycare, boutique, creative space, nightlife, and more. Your business type sets your primary category in the directory and determines which features are emphasized on your profile.

2. Completing Your Profile

A complete profile ranks higher in search and earns more trust from members. Fill in: business name, a description (tell your story), a short tagline, your logo or profile photo, a cover photo/banner, and your social media links (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, website). The more complete your profile, the better your first impression.

3. Setting Your Categories

Your primary category determines where you appear in the directory. You can also add subcategories for more precise placement. Members who have selected matching interest categories will see you in their personalized Discover feed automatically.

4. Business Hours

Set your hours per day from your dashboard’s Profile tab. Each day can be marked open with specific times, closed, open all day, or by appointment only. Your hours appear on your public profile and power the “Open Now” badge in the directory when you’re currently open.

5. Getting Verified (Black-Owned Badge)

The Verified Black-Owned badge shows members your business is authentically Black-owned. Submit verification from your dashboard’s Profile tab — our admin team reviews documentation and approves the badge. It appears on your directory card, public profile header, and all search results.

Your Dashboard

6. Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard is your central command center. The Overview tab shows your key stats — total followers, active deals, upcoming events, and recent redemptions. Navigate through tabs to manage deals, events, gallery, feed, orders, analytics, payouts, and settings.

7. Analytics

The Analytics tab shows profile views over time, follower growth, deal redemption counts per deal, revenue from ticket sales and shop items, and top-performing content. Use the time-period filter (7 days / 30 days / 90 days / 1 year) to track trends. Analytics update in real time.

8. Payouts

Your Payouts tab shows your earnings history from ticket sales and shop orders after the platform’s percentage. Your payout percentage is set by your Marketing Tier: Standard 75%, Featured 60%, Spotlight 50%, Premier 40%. Payouts are processed via your connected Stripe account.

Deals

9. What Are Deals?

Deals are offers you create for platform members — discounts, free items, buy-one-get-one offers, exclusive services, early access. Deals drive members to discover and visit your business. Free deals are available to all members; tier-locked deals require the matching pack.

10. Creating a Deal

Go to Deals → Create Deal. Fill in: title, description and terms, discount type and value, deal image, availability tier, and redemption limits. Active deals appear on your profile and in the member Discover feed immediately.

11. Tier-Locking Deals

Select the minimum pack tier required when creating a deal — Roots, Rise, Reign, or Legacy. Tier-locked deals create aspiration: members without the qualifying tier see the deal but are prompted to upgrade. High-value offers work well tier-locked at Reign or Legacy.

12. Deal Limits & Rules

Set per-member redemption limits (once ever, once per day/week/month, unlimited) and a total redemption cap. Add start and end dates to run time-limited promotions. Expired deals are archived with full stats retained.

13. Flash Deals

Flash deals run for a limited time window you set (hours to a day). They appear with a countdown timer at the top of the Discover feed. Members who follow you receive a push notification at launch. Use them for last-minute availability, slow days, or special occasions.

14. Managing Your Deals

View all deals from the Deals tab — active, paused, and expired. Edit details, pause temporarily, or delete permanently. Each deal card shows total redemptions, unique members, and the average redemption rate.

Events

15. Creating an Event

Go to Events → Create Event. Fill in title, full description, venue name and address, date, start/end times, event category (concert, workshop, pop-up, gallery, etc.), cover image, and the 18+ flag if applicable. Events go live immediately and appear in the events feed.

16. Ticket Types

After creating an event, add ticket types from the event edit page: name (General Admission, VIP, Early Bird, etc.), price, and quantity. Members choose from your types during checkout. Common setups use 2–4 types to offer tiered access.

17. Ticket Pricing & Fees

Set the face value per ticket type. Choose to absorb or pass the platform booking fee to the buyer. Free events are set at $0 — members still complete checkout for capacity tracking without payment friction.

18. Ticket Bundles

Create group packages combining multiple tickets — a “Date Night” bundle of 2 GA tickets at a slight discount, for example. Bundles encourage group attendance and increase average order value.

19. Basket Hold Timer

When a member begins checkout, their tickets are held for a configurable period (typically 10–15 minutes). If they don’t complete payment, the hold releases back to inventory. This prevents ticket hoarding during high-demand sales.

20. Recurring Events

Mark events as recurring (weekly, biweekly, monthly, or custom). One listing covers all occurrences with per-occurrence capacity tracking. Members buy for a specific date. Ideal for weekly open mics, monthly markets, and regular classes.

21. Managing Your Events

Edit event details, adjust ticket quantities, and view per-event sales from the Events tab. Cancelling an event notifies all ticket holders by email and initiates automatic refunds through Stripe.

22. Event Day — QR Scanner

On the Scanner tab, tap Start Scanning. Point the camera at a member’s ticket QR code — you’ll hear a success tone and see their name and ticket type confirmed. Duplicate scans play a different tone and show a warning. A flash toggle helps in dark venues.

23. Event Day — Doorlist

The Doorlist tab shows all ticket holders searchable by name, filterable by ticket type and check-in status. Tap any name to manually check them in. Check-in counts appear at the top. Export the full list as CSV at any time.

24. Walk-Up Sales

Generate a Stripe payment link for at-the-door sales. Walk-up purchases appear on the doorlist in real time. Cash sales can be logged manually using “Mark as Paid,” which creates a ticket without a Stripe charge.

25. Event Proof & Payouts

After your event, submit proof from the event page — photos of the venue during the event confirming it took place. Admin reviews within 24–48 hours. Once approved, your payout is released to your Stripe account per your tier’s percentage.

26. Approved Event Host Status

After 3 events with clean proof submissions and no disputes, your account may receive Approved Event Host status — a purple badge, no proof requirement for future events, and automatic payouts the day after your event ends.

Shop & Marketplace

27. Adding Shop Items

Go to Shop → Add Item. Choose product type: physical (shipped), digital download (instant), service (you fulfill), or external link (sends to your site). Add title, description, photos, pricing, and marketplace category. Items appear on your profile and in the platform-wide Marketplace.

28. Managing Orders

View all incoming orders from the Orders tab. Each order shows the buyer, item, quantity, amount, and date. Update fulfillment status (pending / processing / fulfilled / shipped) and contact buyers directly from the order page.

29. Your Items in the Marketplace

All active shop items appear in the platform-wide Marketplace. Members browse and filter by category. Your items link back to your profile, helping new members discover your business.

Community & Engagement

31. Posting to the Feed

Create posts from the Feed tab — text updates, photos, or both. Posts appear in the My Feed tab of all members who follow you. Use posts for new deal announcements, event hype, business updates, and community shoutouts.

32. Reviews

Members leave star ratings and written reviews on your profile. Respond to any review publicly from the Reviews tab. Your average rating and review count appear on your directory card and profile header.

33. Q&A

Members submit questions from your public profile. Answer them from your Q&A tab — answers are visible to all visitors. Good Q&A sections pre-empt questions about parking, pricing, reservations, and services.

Marketing & Visibility

34. Marketing Tiers

Four tiers control how prominently your business is promoted on the platform:

  • Standard (75% payout) — directory listing, Discover feed inclusion
  • Featured (60% payout) — category page placement, boosted feed rotation
  • Spotlight (50% payout) — featured sections, push notifications to relevant members
  • Premier (40% payout) — homepage banner, email blasts, maximum feed priority

35. Marketing Tier Eligibility

To select a tier above Standard, you must have at least one active paid deal on your profile. This ensures that members who discover you through elevated marketing always have an offer to act on. Removing your last paid deal resets your tier to Standard.

36. Your Public Profile

Preview your public profile by clicking your business name in the dashboard header. Your profile shows everything members see — About, Deals, Events, Gallery, Reviews, Marketplace, Q&A. Keep every tab populated to maximize engagement from visiting members.

Account Management

37. Notifications

Configure email, in-app, and SMS notifications from Settings → Notifications. Business notifications include: new follower, new review, deal redemption, ticket purchase, event reminder, payout released, and admin alerts.

38. Stripe Connect Setup

Connect your Stripe account from Payouts → Connect Stripe. This enables payouts from ticket sales and shop orders. Funds are deposited to your connected bank account on your payout schedule (typically 2–7 business days after the charge).

39. Security Settings

Update your business account email and password from Settings → Security. Your owner first and last name (shown in your dashboard header) is editable from the Profile tab.

40. Scanner Token & Door Staff

Generate a scanner token from the Scanner tab to share with door staff. The token grants scanner-only access without exposing your full dashboard. Revoke tokens instantly from your dashboard after the event.

41. Broadcasts to Ticket Holders

Send event updates to all ticket holders from the event page — venue changes, parking info, schedule updates. Target all attendees or specific ticket types. Broadcasts are sent by email with a rate limit to prevent spam.

42. Closing Your Account

To close your business account, deactivate all deals, fulfill open orders, and complete or cancel any scheduled events (with refunds processed). Contact support to initiate closure. Analytics data is retained for accounting purposes.
